our children's clubs
The Alsorts group has been running successfully since July 2002 and is based in the St.Francis Hall on a Wednesday 4pm-6pm and is open to all children aged 4-12 years. The aim of this programme is to provide the children with the skills to enhance their self-esteem, well-being & welfare through social, physical & mental life skills.
The children are encouraged to participate in a variety of free and structured play which includes Football, Skipping Ropes, Soft Play, Hoola Hoops, Arts & Crafts and other fun activities. We operate a time out and red dot system and use positive reinforcement at all times. The children have a break at 5pm and are provided with fruit, juice and water they are not allowed sweets, crisps or juice in club time. We use the break time to discuss a range of topics which include bullying, anti-social behaviour and any other issues the children may have.
Blaze is a club which started on Monday the 18th January 2010 and had been sponsored by Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Service. The club is based in the St.Francis Centre on a Monday 3.30pm-5.30pm and is open to all children aged 4-12 years. The club had a large input from the fire service. The same format as the Alsorts is used and all of the above partners are involved with Blaze.
The Club is a group which has been running since Tuesday 1st November 2011.
Diamonds is based Toryglen Community Hall on Tuesdays from 4pm-6pm and is open to all children aged 4-12 years. The Toryglen Club replicates the Alsorts, Blaze and Champs with the same input from our partners.
This club was formerly known as diamonds.
Sparcs childrens clubs were set up to provide activities and play opportunities for children aged 4-12 years and their parents/carers who live in the south east area of Glasgow.
The children’s clubs currently run 3 times a week and operate in the Gorbals and Toryglen areas from 4pm-6pm Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays.
Our aim is to provide the children with the skills to enhance their self-esteem, well being & welfare through social, physical & mental skills.
The clubs are free to all children who register, they provide children with the opportunity to participate in a variety of free and structured play which includes football, skipping ropes, soft play, hoola hoops arts & crafts and other fun activities. The children are provided with fruit, juice and water at break time this introduces them to the benefits of healthy eating. We use the break time to discuss a range of topics which include bullying, anti-social behaviour. The children are also given the opportunity to show off their singing and dancing skills and enjoy participating in group singing.
Through partnership working we are able to offer the children a varied range of interactive sessions which gives them the opportunity to learn new skills, build up positive relationships with our partners and learn the consequences of their actions. In turn we are hoping to make our communities a safer place for everyone young and old
We currently have a waiting list. There are no other facilities that are free for children in the areas that we work this reduces the pressures on families who are income deprived and helps promote equality. This enables them to access services and activities which they may ordinarily not be able to afford.
All of the children who attend our clubs have the right to be “children” and we feel that the clubs offer them respite from the stresses of their every day life
We operate an open door policy and all of our activities are open to any child aged 4-12 years regardless of their background. We pride ourselves in that all of our programmes have always been inclusive and not exclusive; we feel that this plays a vital role in building stronger, tolerant well adjusted communities.
